Throughout Europe, ATMs are the standard way for travelers to get cash. But stay away
from “independent” ATMs such as Travelex, Euronet, Cardpoint, and Cashzone, which
charge huge commissions and have terrible exchange rates. Most ATMs in Croatia and
Slovenia are located outside a bank. Try to use the ATM when the branch is open; if your
card is munched by a machine, you can immediately go inside for help.
