As for sightseeing...well, Opatija is not that kind of place. If you like, you can drop into
the
opatija
(abbey) that gave the town its name, the
Abbey of St. James
(Opatija Sv. Jakov,
right along the Lungomare below the TI). On the dome above the altar is a strangely eerie
reliefshowingSt.Jamesstandinginaboat,cradlingthischurchinhisarm,accompanied by
his trademark gourd-on-a-stick, and flanked by palm trees.
