Flores' little Zona Viva is traditionally the strip of bars along Calle Sur, but recently
there's plenty of action around the bend, along the lakefront promenade north of Hotel
Santana.

The candlelit terrace here is a nice spot to start the
night, as the lights of Santa Elena reflect pleasingly off the lake.

Aside from drinking and conversing at the terrace tables, there's non-stop
dancing on the crowded dance floor. It's a mostly middle-class Guatemalan scene.

'El Mi' is Santa Elena's major disco, a
cavernous hall with a big stage for salsa combos. If you'd rather croon than dance,
Monday to Wednesday evenings are reserved for karaoke.
