which forms the border between Belize and Guatemala. Ten kilometers upstream is the
small community of Lagunita Creek, where a community-tourism project offers lodging in
a simple ecolodge. Simple meals (Q50 to Q65) are available here, or you can bring your
own food to cook.
Included in the price is use of kayaks to explore the beautiful, turquoise waters of the
river and guided nature walks/bird-watching tours. Transport isn't complicated but it can
be expensive - the only way to get here is by boat. Lanchas from Lívingston charge
Q1200 per boatload (up to eight people), with a small discount for smaller groups. Happy
Fish Travel in Livingston offers day/overnight tours here for Q280/480 but require a min-
imum of six people.
