It's 500m from the swing bridge where the road ends - a taxi will charge about Q15 to

Down by
the waterfront, this is a big modern construction with reasonably sized, spotless rooms and
a great swimming pool overlooking the river. Don't expect views from your room - the
recommended 2nd-floor restaurant steals them all.

This
beautiful Italian-run place down on the beach has some of the best rooms in town. There
are a variety of rooms on offer, going up to apartments that sleep eight comfortably. The
grounds and common areas are immaculate and there's a good Italian restaurant with sea
views out the front.
A taxi here from the dock will cost around Q10.

The 45-room Villa Caribe is a luxurious anomaly among Lívingston's laid-back, low-
priced Caribbean lodgings. Modern but still Caribbean in style, it has many conveniences
and comforts, including extensive tropical gardens, a big swimming pool and a large
poolside bar. Rooms are fan-cooled with modern bathrooms; little balconies overlook the
gardens and river mouth. The bungalows are air-conditioned.
Eating
Food in Lívingston is relatively expensive because most of it (except fish and coconuts)
must be brought in by boat. There's fine seafood here and some unusual flavors for
Guatemala, including coconut and curry.
Tapado,
