This 118-acre hacienda, a two-
minute boat ride across the cove from Bruno's, is a special place to stay. Activities include
horseback riding, hiking, bird-watching, and walking and canopy tours around the rubber
plantation and private nature reserve. Accommodation is in lovely little cabins connected
by boardwalks. The pricier ones have kitchens and are well set-up for families.
Most cabins face the water and there's a very relaxing pool/bar area. Access is by boat
or by a road that turns off the highway about 1km north of the village. The folks here
speak Spanish, English and French, and they'll pick you up from across the river.

The best-
looking bungalows on the river are located here, a five-minute
lancha
ride east from town.
There are plenty of hammocks, the showers are seriously hot and kayaks are free for guest
use.

A path leads down
from the northeast end of the bridge to this riverside hang-out for yachties needing to get
some land under their feet. The dorms here are clean and spacious and the new building
offers some of the most comfortable rooms in town, with air-con and balconies overlook-
ing the river. They're well set up for families and sleep up to six.

Under the
bridge just south of Bruno's, this little hotel/marina offers spacious, spotless rooms, the
more expensive ones with river views. There's a good restaurant here, serving juicy
steaks, Southern cooking and big breakfasts.
Eating
All of the hotels listed above have restaurants. Bruno's and the Vista al Río serve good
breakfasts and gringo comfort food and have full bars. Hacienda Tijax is a popular lunch
spot - give them a call and they'll come pick you up.
