Though it's very hot, Chiquimula is easy to get around on foot.

Post Office (10a Av) Between 1a and 2a Calles.
Telgua (3a Calle) Plenty of card phones; a few doors downhill from Parque Ismael Cerna.
Getting There & Away
Several companies operate buses and microbuses, arriving and departing from the bus sta-
tion area on 11a Av, between 1a and 2a Calles. Litegua ( 7942-2064; 1a Calle, btwn Avs 10a & 11a)
, which operates buses to El Florido (the border crossing on the way to Copán) has its own
bus station a half block north. For the Honduran border-crossing at Agua Caliente take a
minibus to Esquipulas and change there. If you're headed to Jalapa, you'll need to go to
Ipala to make the connection. For Río Dulce, take a Flores bus, or a Puerto Barrios bus to
La Ruidosa junction and change there. If you're going to Esquipulas, sit on the left for the
best views of the basilica housing the shrine of El Cristo Negro.

Anguiatú, El Salvador border (Q15, one hour, leaves when full from 5am to 5:30pm)
El Florido, Honduras border (Q25, 1½ hours, leaves when full from 5:30am to 4:30pm)
Esquipulas (Q20, 45 minutes, every 20 minutes from 5am to 9pm)
Flores (Q100, seven to eight hours, two daily)
Guatemala City (Q40, three hours, every half hour from 3am to 3.30pm)
Ipala (Q6, 1½ hours, hourly from 5am to 7pm)
Puerto Barrios (Q45, 4½ hours, every 30 minutes from 3:30am to 4pm)
Quiriguá (Q30, two hours, every 30 minutes from 3:30am to 4pm)
Río Hondo (Q15, 35 minutes, every 15 minutes from 5am to 6pm)
