In-Depth Information
The best hotels around are out on the entrance to town. You're not missing much by being
out here.

( 7882-5504; Callejón los Mormones; s/d Q110/160; ) Down a short lane (signposted) off Car-
retera al Pacífico is the best budget hotel in town. It has clean, good-sized rooms with a
fan, cold showers and a TV. Air-con is Q70 extra.
HOTEL
Hospedaje Reforma $

( 7882-1731; 4a Av 4-71; s/d Q70/120) This hotel has exactly three things going for it: it's
cheap, it's central and the patio is decorated with stuffed boars' heads. And if you like
sleeping in dark and airless little concrete cells, make that four.

Hotel Santiaguito $$

HOTEL
( 7882-5435; hsantiaguito@yahoo.com.mx; Carretera al Pacífico, Km 90.4; s/d Q330/440; ) On the
highway on the west edge of town, the Santiaguito is fairly lavish for Guatemala's Pacific
Slope, with spacious tree-shaded grounds and a nice swimming pool (open to nonguests
for Q20). The large rooms have huge, firm beds and are set around a jungly patio/parking
area.
The spacious restaurant is cooled by ceiling fans and serves up good cheeseburgers and
slightly overpriced meals (Q30 to Q80).
Hotel El Camino $$

( 7882-5316; Carretera al Pacífico, Km 90.5; s/d Q160/270; ) About 200m east along the
highway from the Santiaguito, Hotel El Camino's rooms are almost ridiculously large,
with a few sticks of furniture like clothes racks and writing tables. You could organize a
game of five a side with the rest of the floor space, but don't tell management it was our
idea.
