Zona 10
Zona 10's upmarket ambience is matched with its range of restaurant choices - prices are
higher here, but you're bound to find more variety on the menus and more comfortable
surroundings.
San Martín & Company $
CAFE, BAKERY
(13a Calle 1-62, Zona 10; light meals Q30-50; 6am-8pm; )
Cool and clean, with ceiling fans in-
side and a small terrace outside, this Zona Viva cafe and bakery is great at any time of
day. For breakfast try a scrumptious omelet and croissant (the former arrives inside the
latter). Later there are tempting and original sandwiches, soups and salads.
Los Alpes $$
(10a Calle 1-09, Zona 10; breakfast Q40-60; 7am-9pm)
A relaxing garden restaurant/bakery. It's set
well back from the road, behind a wall of vegetation, giving it a feeling of deep seclusion.
The freshly made sandwiches and cakes really hit the spot.
CAFE, BAKERY
La Maison de France $$
(13a Calle 7-98, Zona 10; mains Q80-170; noon-10:30pm Mon-Sat)
French/Guatemalan probably isn't
a combination you were expecting, but this little place does it well, with some good
French dishes (including garlic snails, Q60), imported wines and live music on Fridays.
FRENCH
Kakao $$$
(2a Av 13-44, Zona 10; mains Q70-120; noon-3pm & 7-11pm Mon-Sat, noon-4pm Sun)
Set under a thatched
palapa
roof with a soft marimba soundtrack, this is Zona 10's best
comida típica
(regional
food) restaurant. The atmosphere and food are both outstanding.
