In-Depth Information
In bioprinting, for example, there's no design software for vascular systems.
Someday doctors will apply generative design software to this problem. Rather
than designing a complex vascular system for a kidney by directly describing
its intricate branching shape, a doctor would specify a few basic rules. Then,
to “design” the kidney's vascular network, the doctor would launch the gen-
erative design software to “grow” a iligreed network of new veins. Nature has
produced an astonishing array of complex “designs” for plants and animals,
even non-living objects like crystals and patterns in the sand. 3D printers are
beginning to allow us to make complex structures, but the designs are still
out of reach.
