At the heart of the city's
Quadrat d'Or
(Golden Square) lies this stunning block of
houses.Literally“theblockofdiscord”,theMansanadelaDiscòrdiaisso-calledbe-
causeofthedramaticcontrastofitsthreeflagshipbuildings.Builtbetween1900and
1907 by the three

greats, rival architects Gaudí, Domènech i Montaner

All boast superb interiors, but Casa Lleó Morera is closed to the

4. HOSPITAL DE LA SANTA CREU I DE SANT PAU
A fully functioning hospital until 2010, it was built in two stages from 1905 by
DomènechiMontanerandhisson.Atributeto

swer to Gaudí's Sagrada Família - the design includes eight pavilions and various
other buildings linked by underground tunnels. The pavilions recall the history of
Cataloniawithmurals,mosaicsandsculptures.Interlacingthebuildingsarebeauti-
