Long-distance Calls
AT&T, MCI Direct and US Sprint services are available for dialing from
the islands to home. Access numbers are: US Sprint ,

Local Calls
The cost for local calls within Grand Cayman is 9¢ for the first three min-
utes, 3¢ for each additional minute. Calls within either Little Cayman or
Cayman Brac are charged a flat fee of 9¢ per minute. Calls between Grand
Cayman and the sister islands are 3¢ per minute. Calls between Little
Cayman and Cayman Brac are 9¢ per minute.
Public Telephones
Throughout the islands, you'll find many public phones. Some accept coins
only; others accept phone cards only; some accept both. You can purchase
phone cards in denominations of $10, $15 and $25 from Cable and Wire-
less, which has offices in Anderson Square on Shedden Road in George
Town and on Cayman Brac, as well as from most service stations.
Time
The Cayman Islands do not observe daylight saving time; eastern stan-
dard time is observed throughout the year. Dial
844 for the current local
time.
Video Rentals
Because of all the condominium properties with VCRs, you'll find a good
selection of rental businesses on Grand Cayman. Blockbuster has loca-
tions at the Eden Centre in George Town (
345-949-9500) and on West
Bay Road in the Westshore Centre (
345-949-4500).
Water
Water throughout the Cayman Islands is drinkable, although many re-
sorts use desalinated water produced by reverse osmosis; the result is safe,
potable water. Still, some visitors prefer the taste of bottled water, which is
available at restaurants and grocery stores throughout the islands.
