A temporary Cayman Islands driver's license is required. You can obtain
this from a car rental agency by presenting a valid driver's license and pay-
ing the US $7.50 fee. You must also show a major credit card. You must be
21 or over to rent a vehicle; some agencies require renters to be 25 years of
age.
Remember that driving is on the
left
side of the road throughout the
Cayman Islands. Some vehicles are right-hand drive. Most 4x4s have a
left-hand stick shift. If you'd like a left-hand-drive vehicle, check with the
company when making your reservation (we think a left-hand-drive vehi-
cle is easier for US drivers; you can concentrate on driving on the left side
of the road instead without fumbling with your signals and windshield
wipers).
