Resorts
Several resorts along Seven Mile Beach - Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman,
Westin Casuarina Resort Grand Cayman, Grand Cayman Marriott Beach
Resort, and Treasure Beach Resort - offer facilities and staff for large- and
medium-sized groups.
Recently the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman (
800-55-HYATT, www.
hyatt.com) added an additional 5,000 square feet of beachfront meeting
and event space as part of its $15 million beach suite addition. The new ar-
eas include a 4,800-square-foot pavilion adjacent to its existing ballroom.
This flexible space is designed to accommodate all types of events from
meetings to elegant evening functions. The property also added the 925-
square-foot Royal Crown meeting space, which can be used as either one or
two rooms, and a 4,000-square-foot rooftop deck overlooking the beach.
The 309-room Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort (

9290, www.marriott.com) is home to a 3,657-square-foot ballroom with a
capacity of 500 when used theater-style, or 300 for a banquet. The resort
also offers a 1,113-square-foot meeting room.
Westin Casuarina Resort Grand Cayman (
888-625-5144, www.wes-
tincasuarina.com) offers a 2,560-square-foot ballroom, which is divisible
into two rooms, as well as two executive board rooms, each capable of host-
ing 15 attendees in a conference setting.
Treasure Island Resort (
800-203-0775 or 800-448-8355) offers three
meeting rooms with over 1,500 square feet. The Spinnaker Room has a ca-
pacity of 70 persons theater-style, while the Leeward and Windward
Rooms each can seat 80 attendees theater-style.
In mid-2002, these resorts will be joined by the Ritz-Carlton Grand
Cayman (
800-241-3333, www.ritzcarlton.com). This 366-room and 71-
condominium resort will offer 17,450 square feet of meeting facilities, in-
cluding a 12,000-square-foot ballroom and six meeting rooms totaling
5,450 square feet.
Smaller groups will find conference space as well. Seaview Dive Centre
(
345-945-0558, fax 345-945-0559) offers a small meeting facility for up
to 60 participants; groups also have use of a slide projector and TV/VCR as
well as catering. Casual meeting space is available at the new Royal Reef
(
888-373-5959, www.royalresorts.com), a complex of 30 two-bedroom
villas with an additional 50 villas planned for construction within the next
year. Small groups can book the villas as meeting and function space.
Alternative Venues
Smaller groups may prefer an alternative to the resort-based conference
facilities. Meeting planners will find a range of activities and off-site ven-
ues, whether your group's interests lie in history or horticulture.
