For the nodal discretization X 2 the constructed RPI shape function of x 1 , and
the respective first order and second order partial derivatives, are presented in
Fig. 4.27 . It is visible that the RPI are capable to produce smooth and continuous
shape functions regardless the irregularity of the nodal discretization or the size of
the support-domain.
