Getting Tickets: The ticket windows take a break from 13:00-13:30 and 15:45-16:15,
but the church and roof remain open. You can bypass the line at the ticket window, or
buy tickets when the window is closed, by using the automatic machines (in English, bills
only—no coins).
Evening Visits: In summer (May-Sept), to squeeze more sightseeing into your busy St.
Petersburg days, consider saving this church for an after-hours but higher-cost visit (in-
terior-350 R, Thu-Tue 18:15-22:30, closed Wed; roof-300 R, Thu-Tue 18:15-23:00, closed
Wed; last entry for both 30 minutes earlier).
NeighborhoodChurches —Two convenient neighborhood churches are at Vladimirskaya
Metro stop, by the Dostoyevsky Museum and the indoor market (at the south end of Mok-
hovaya Ulitsa, by the first bridge across the Fontanka going north from Nevsky). For a ser-
ious Orthodox experience, take the Metro to Ploshchad Aleksandra Nevskogo and visit the
church in the lavra (monastery) across the street from the Metro exit, where Dostoyevsky
is also buried.
Near Nevsky Prospekt
Dostoyevsky Museum (Музей Ф. М. Достоевского) —Although many of the fur-
nishings are gone, a visit to this six-room apartment gives you a feel for how the famous
writer lived. Dostoyevsky, his second wife, and their three children lived here for the last
