The value of F-measure varies from subject to subject. This will be caused by the
difference of the intensity of the smiles. Some subjects often give little smiles while
others tend to give full smiles. The former will make the detection of emotional
scenes more difficult, the latter will make it relatively easy. Therefore, the accuracy
of emotional scene detection depends to some extent on the person.
The number of feature values m has an influence on the detection accuracy. On
average, the F-measure slightly decreases in proportion to the number of feature
values when m
6 as shown in Fig. 4. This means a small number of feature values
are sufficient for the emotional scene detection. Using large number of feature values
will not be effective because it increases the number of redundant feature values and
decreases the average usefulness of the feature values.
