The industrial-chic vibe (it's in an old auto repair shop) of this barbecue specialist fits
the neighbourhood. Order your meat by the pound (beef brisket, pork shoulder or pork
belly $16), tack on a couple of sides (burnt end baked beans $5.25) and wash it down
with a microbrew ($6 pints).

Though it's a neighbourhood restaurant at heart (in an out-of-the-way spot), it's worth
making the effort for the inventive cocktails, delectable dumplings ($19) and Korean-in-

This cosy Montreal-style Jewish deli serves smoked meat sandwiches that rival any in
town, along with takes on Old World home cooking - for example, chicken and latkes
(potato pancakes). A real treat.

Catering to carnivores since 1873, Peter Luger 's may just be the city's finest steakhouse.
The service is surly and the decor plain, but the porterhouse steak - essentially the only
cut served - is divine. Make sure to order the bacon starter too. It's expensive; tabs can
easily run to $100 or so per person.
