THE OUTER BOROUGHS
New York City doesn't end with Manhattan. There are four other boroughs to explore:
Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. They cover an enormous area and
you'll naturally want to pick your attractions carefully, although some of the more al-
luring parts of Brooklyn and Queens, like Brooklyn Heights and Long Island City, are
just a subway stop away from downtown or midtown. Staten Island is the only borough
that lacks an essential must-see sight or dynamic neighbourhoods for great ethnic food
- the free ferry ride back and forth, with its views of downtown and the Statue of
Liberty, is excitement enough. Otherwise, between the Bronx Zoo, Coney Island, Greek
Astoria and more, you'll be torn in which direction to head.
