Around the dawn of time, or at least a hundred years ago, the self-styled Sturgeon King
began providing Upper West Siders with a beautiful array of smoked fish, cheese
blintzes and the like. Be thankful that this deli-restaurant shows no sign of letting up.

One of the top independent bookstores left in the city, Book Culture offers an airy space
conducive to browsing and a downstairs kids' room; the original branch at 536 112th
Street carries mainly academic titles (on its second floor).

to every nook and cranny of this eclectic bookshop, which is ripe for browsing; pretty
much all of them are in good shape and sold at reasonable prices. There's a related re-
cord store down on 72nd St.
