Not as imposing or spacious as Central Park, the waterfront
Riverside Park
was designed
in the English pastoral style by the same team of architects, Olmsted and Vaux. The main
stretch runs from 72th to 125th and slopes down from Riverside Drive, along wild paths and
over great open patches of greenery. The
79th Street Boat Basin
is a lovely retreat as well
as a nice summer eating option.
Riverside Drive
itself is flanked by palatial townhouses and apartment buildings construc-
