In a cool, relaxed dining room, Portuguese-accented dishes come exquisitely prepared
and full of flavour. Prices are reasonable (entrees $22-35), and a $25 three-course prix-
fixe at lunch seals the deal.

Somewhat hard to find (and up three flights), but worth seeking out for the chicken
soups - with handmade dough flakes ($9.99) or ginseng ($18.99) or, if you're with
friends, chicken cooked in a casserole ($54.99).

One of NYC's best restaurants; its neo-colonial decor, exquisite New American cuisine
and perfect service make for a memorable meal. The seasonal tasting menus are well
worth the steep prices ($120; three-course prix fixe $92), but you can also drop in for a
drink or cheaper and more casual meal in the lively front room.
