GENERAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

Founded in 1817, this is a Chelsea secret, a harmonious assemblage of Gothic structures that
feel like part of a college campus. Though the buildings still house a working Episcopalian
seminary - the oldest in the US - it's possible to explore the grounds and small chapel.
You'll need to get a special pass to check out their collection of Latin Bibles, one of the
largest in the world.
LONDON TERRACE APARTMENTS
405 and 465 W 23rd St between Ninth and Tenth aves. Subway C, E to 23rd St. MAP
Surrounding a private garden, these two rows of 1930s apartment buildings got their name
because the management made the original doormen wear London bobby uniforms.
However, they were later nicknamed “The Fashion Projects” for their retinue of big-time de-
signer, photographer and model residents (including Isaac Mizrahi, Annie Leibovitz and De-
borah Harry) and their proximity to Chelsea's real housing projects.
