Built in 1887, this wonderfully restored synagogue is one of the neighbourhood jewels: a
brick and terracotta hybrid of Moorish and Gothic influences, with rich woodwork and
stained-glass windows, including the spectacular west-wing rose window. The synagogue is
still in use, but tours visit the main sanctuary upstairs, while exhibits introduce the history of
the building and the area.
