In-Depth Information
Mott Street is Chinatown's most touristy restaurant row, although the streets around -
Canal, Pell, Bayard, Doyers and Bowery - host a glut of good restaurants, tea and rice
shops. Cantonese cuisine predominates, but many restaurants also specialize in spicier
Sichuan and Hunan dishes. Most restaurants start closing around 10pm.
GRAND STREET
Subway B, D to Grand St. MAP
Grand Street was the city's Main Street in the mid-1800s, and nowadays you will find out-
door fruit, vegetable and live seafood stands lining the curbs, offering bean curd, fungi and
dried sea cucumbers. Ribs, whole chickens and roast ducks glisten in the storefront win-
dows, alongside those of Chinese herbalists.
