Fabulous hotel bar, set at the bottom of the Grand 's spa-
cious atrium - being surrounded by twinkling lights and
beautiful people (it's much more atmospheric at night)
eases the pain when it's time to pay.

Ultra hip lounge bar, with a decent range of beers, wines and cocktails to accompany the
sleek design and good food. Live music and DJs set the scene.
PEGU CLUB

St. Sun-Wed 5pm-2am, Thurs-Sat 5pm-4am. MAP
One of NYC's most celebrated cocktail lounges, an elegant pioneer that perfected the
Gin-Gin Mule (ginger beer with Tanqueray gin, fresh mint and lime juice).
PRAVDA
281 Lafayette St between Prince and Houston sts. Subway R, N to Prince St. Mon-Wed 5pm-1am, Thurs
5pm-2am, Fri & Sat 5pm-3am, Sun 6pm-1am. MAP
This chic Russian lounge serves caviar, stiff (and potent) vodka drinks and hard-boiled
eggs for snacking. Now that its heyday has passed, there are fewer crowds competing to
sample the 70 vodkas on offer, and there's a relaxed vibe.
PUFFY'S TAVERN
81 Hudson St between Harrison and Jay sts. Subway #1 to Franklin St. Mon-Fri 11.30am-4am, Sat &
Sun noon-4am. MAP
Far from being P. Diddy's hangout, this small dive bar serves up cheap booze without an
ounce of attitude, rare in this area. Italian sandwiches are served and its cool jukebox
specializes in old 45s.
