From the Sundial Stone continue just under 1 mile (1.5 kilometers) to the next big attrac-
tion, which is almost impossible to miss. It's the view from the heights of the observatory atop
the Hiyajo Banta Cliffs ( 比屋定バンタ ; Hiyajyō Banta). If you have merely driven by the signs
for the fish pools and the sundial, it's about 1.75 miles (3 kilometers) in all southeast from
Tachijami to Hiyajo Banta. You'll pass the village of Hiyajo and the sundial about halfway
along the way.
The Japanese Military Radar Installation situated beyond the castle ruins on Mt Uegusuku.
The observatory and accompanying gift shop and refreshment stand are poised some 650
feet (200 meters) above the beautifully clear northern sea directly on the main coastal road
