In-Depth Information
After taking in the view, the path continues right around the top so that you'll end back
nearby the little shrine without having to retrace your steps. From there it's back down the
paved road. You can drive to the top if you have a vehicle and start your hike where the pave-
ment ends. That's an easy hike as it's almost completely flat.
Geruma Port, located at the island's southern end.
Takara House, a preserved Okinawan-style house.
The small bridge that connects Geruma Island to its southern neighbor, Fukaji Island.
A much shorter and less strenuous hike runs from the village to the only observatory on
the island, Azanamui ( アザナムイ展望台 ; Azana-mui tenbō-dai). It has a nice view back to-
wards the village and the bridge to Fukaji. Entry is free.
