The Kanucha Resort, otherwise known as Kanucha Bay Hotel & Villas.
Second, it's far from Naha, from the airport, even from Nago. The fact is that it's far from
everything. Along with the two Okuma resorts, it's easily the most remote resort on Okinawa
Main Island. Well, that bit of geography doesn't seem to stop anyone from coming. It only
makes it a slightly longer journey to reach the destination. The hotel runs shuttle buses for its
guests to and from the airport throughout the day. They take the expressway and it's 50 miles
(80 kilometers) door to door and it takes an hour and a half. That's not the end of the world.
It can take almost as long, sometimes longer depending on the traffic, to reach the resorts on
the western Onna coast.

The Kanucha Resort is a perfect example of what is often said, but not always true: “Build
it and they will come.” Yes, maybe. Arguably, this statement is only true when you make it
worth someone's while. Only then will they come, for if they come and it's a disappointment,
word gets out pretty quickly and then nobody comes. Here, they've accomplished their mis-
sion. The guests who come are going to stay and enjoy themselves, for they have everything
on site. And when any guests might wish to go sightseeing in Naha, or visit other places on
the island, they'll pick up a rental car at the resort and go. So the reality is that no one is so
isolated, unless they wish to be.
