TIP
Evaluating the.Accuracy
of Web Information
The wonderful thing about the web is that anybody can create a website
and publish her own information. The bad thing about the web is that
anybody can create and publish her own information.
The web can provide answers to your questions, but how do you know
how accurate or reliable this information is? To gauge this, consider the
source of the information. If the information appears on a website hosted
by a university, respected institution, or reputable company, it is likely
that the information is accurate. If not, it's possible that the information
is accurate, but there is no way of knowing for certain. The information
is only as good as its source. Information on an individual's blog, for
example, is not usually reliable information.
