Using Web Search Tools
The answer to just about any question you may have is likely available on
the Internet. The problem is knowing where to look to find it. This is
where search engines come in. A search engine is an application that builds
an index of sites on the Internet. Users can then search that database using
keywords or phrases to find sites that contain the information they need.

name (followed by .com) in the Address bar of your browser.

Conducting a Search
To conduct a search in Google, you type a keyword or phrase into the
Search field and click the blue magnifying glass button on the right.
Google returns a list of sites that contain information matching the
word or phrase you typed. It also shows you how many matches Google
found, and how long it took Google to conduct the search.
