Following the Trail in Outlook
Try looking at the email headers in Outlook to get an idea of what happens to an email in transit.
Open Outlook and highlight an email in your Inbox.
Double-click the mail to open it in a new window.
Click the File tab, and under Info, select Properties at the bottom. The Properties box for
the mail opens and at the bottom is a box titled Internet Headers. In that box, you can see
the history of the mail.
From the information in the Properties box, can you work out how many mail servers the
email went through and how long it took to arrive?

The Impact of Social Networking
Social networking has become a major player in Internet communication and is now moving into
the workplace. Look at your environment, school, college, or workplace and consider the impact
of allowing social networking on the internal network. Ask yourself the following questions:
Would being able to use social networking during working hours affect productivity?
Can social networking replace existing communications in the workplace?
Are there disadvantages to using social networking in the workplace?
Discuss these questions with your colleagues, and compare their views with yours.
