In-Depth Information
( 39-2007; hostal_perladelosandes@hotmail.com; Villar 179; s/d S35/55; ) An
excellent-value, friendly spot that wears its multiple layers of polished wood with pride,
La Perla has a great location right on Caraz' quiet plaza. Rooms are smallish, but they all
have cable TV, solid mattresses, hot showers and some have balconies with an ideal plaza
view. Bright, natural light is in excess and the staff is helpful.
Grand Hostal Caraz Dulzura $
( 39-1523; www.hostalcarazdulzura.com ; Sáenz Peña 212; s/d/tr incl breakfast S45/
70/120; ) About 10 blocks north of the plaza along Cordova, this is a clinically clean
and homey rural retreat that provides good bang for your buck. Rooms are bright and have
hot showers and comfortable beds. There's a patio backed by a rocky hill and a TV room
with a few little surprises like cash register lamps.

( 39-1171; chavinhostel@hotmail.com; San Martín 1135; s/d/tr/qd S40/60/80/100;
) The owner here is involved with the local tourism authority and can provide information,
tours and local transportation, making this a sensible choice. Rooms are simple, but all
have TV and hot showers and the hotel has a good location just off the plaza.

Cordillera Blanca Hotel $
Offline map
( 46-7936; hotelcordillerablanca@hotmail.com; Grau 903; s/d S25/40; ) This
multistory hotel opposite the market is decidedly lacking in anything that might resemble
character, but immaculate, brightly-colored rooms (Pink! Purple! Green!) and gleaming
bathrooms are good value for money. The restaurant downstairs, Chifa El Dragón Rojo,
offers a Chinese twist on the traditional pollería .

Although many of the large rooms here are dark and windowless, the attractive patio and
animated owner makes this place a budget fave.
