TREKKING, RENTALS
Pony Expeditions

ing regional expert Alberto Cafferata provides equipment rental (including bicycles),
transport, guides, arrieros and various excursions. Books, maps, fuel and other items are
for sale at the shop.
Apu Aventura

Luis is an experienced guide who can also help arrange treks, horse riding, climbing and
equipment rental. He also offers quad bike tours in the Cordillera Negra and has plans to
begin running kayak trips on the surrounding lagoons. The office is inside Los Pinos
Lodge.
TREKKING, CLIMBING
Sleeping
Caraz has yet to see the tourist development of Huaraz and offers straightforward facilities
and budget sleeping options. Prices remain quite stable throughout the year.
Los Pinos Lodge $

maze-like, multi-colored mansion that is thoughtfully decorated inside and out and offers
outstanding rooms for all budgets. Newer rooms approach boutique levels, decked out in
earthy colors with flat-screen televisions and stone-walled bathrooms. Roomy dorms are
just as well- appointed with nice hardwood floors and TVs.
There are several great garden courtyards and a funky restaurant that serves breakfast
and snacks. The owner, Luis, organizes trekking and tours of the area.
