In-Depth Information
(Grau 503; meals S15 & S18; 7:30am-4:30pm) There's nothing silly about this Dr
Seuss - inspired breakfast spot, which counts a battalion of gringo fans for its homesick-
remedy breakfasts (pancakes, French toast, hash browns). But the real coup is the 2nd-
floor patio - a straight shot through a thatch of tall palms to the crashing waves.
Angela's Place $
(Piura 396; breakfasts S6.50-14, mains S5-12; from 8am) Angela the Austrian bread
wizard started selling her delicious sweet potato, yucca and wheat breads from her bicycle
years ago. Now you can get them at her cheery cafe on the main drag, along with creative
and substantial vegetarian (and vegan!) dishes, energizing breakfast combos and sweet
pastries.
BREAKFAST, VEGETARIAN
La Postrería $
(Piura 233; desserts S8-12; closed Wed) This adorable cafe run by an adorable limeña
knows its way around a latte and is the place to sink your sweet tooth into some great
desserts, including suspiro limeño (milk caramel and meringue), brownies, cheesecake
and the ever-popular apple pie. Cool soundtrack to boot, bouncing from the Cure to Death
Cab to Smashing Pumpkins (when they were good).
DESSERTS
Beef Grill $$
(Piura 253; burgers S18-23; from 5pm) The North Coast's best burgers are an ideal
antidote to the seafood blues, but there are more serious slabs of meat coming out of the
kitchen too.
BURGERS, STEAKHOUSE
Jugería Mi Janett $
(Piura 677; juices S3-6) The best juice place in town - come here for massive jugs of
your favorite tropical fruit squeeze.
