El Complejo Arqueológico la Huaca el Brujo, about 60km northwest of Trujillo, is
harder to reach. The safest route is catching a bus in Trujillo, bound for Chocope (S3.50,
1½ hours) from Ovalo del Papa southwest of town. Switch for a
colectivo
to Magdalena
de Cao (S2.50, 20 minutes), where you'll need to negotiate with a
mototaxi
to take you to
and from the site with waiting time (S5 each way plus something for waiting is about
right; few tourists visit this site so options are slim - do not bank on randomly grabbing
something after your visit). There are also Chocope-bound buses from the Provincial Bus
Terminal Interurbano southeast of central Trujillo, but this neighborhood is best avoided
by tourists.
