Eating & Drinking
Following the closure of the city's best eatery, there are disappointingly few good restaur-
ants.
Restaurant Chavín de Grima $
(Lima 270; meals S10-15; 7am-10pm)
For breakfasts and cheap set lunches on the
Plaza de Armas you won't go far wrong by heading to this popular place. A wholesome
two-course
menú del dia
(set menu of the day) is a mere S4.50 .
PERUVIAN
Restaurant Señorial/
El Braserito $
(Huánuco 138/140; mains S12-24; 8am-3pm & 6-11pm)
Two restaurants rolled into
one (just one side is opened if it's slow), this is the local favorite. It's seen better days than
these but there's something inexplicably appealing about the array of meaty options com-
plemented by the nonstop
telenovelas
and inane reality shows blaring from the TV. The
wholesome menu features the usual Peruvian standards, including
cuy
(guinea pig) and
trucha
(trout).
PERUVIAN
El Che Parrillas $
(Lima 558; mains S15; 11am-midnight)
The
parrillas
(grilled meats) at this 2nd-floor
restaurant are sublime.
