DANGERS & ANNOYANCES
Beware illegal minibuses and taxis offering service between Copacabana and La Paz: ex-
press kidnappings have been reported. Travelers are encouraged to take the formal tourist
buses (or the larger buses) and travel by day.
During festivals stand far back from fireworks displays and be wary of light-fingered
revelers.
MEDICAL SERVICES
There is a basic hospital on the southern outskirts of town. For serious situations head
straight to La Paz.
MONEY
Shops on Calle 6 de Agosto exchange foreign currency (dollars preferred). Banco Bisa
ATM (6 de Agosto & Pando) works only sometimes.
POST
Post office ( 8:30am-noon & 2:30-4pm Tue-Sun) On the north side of Plaza 2 de
Febrero, but often closed or unattended.

Offices are dotted along 6 de Agosto and around town.

Centro de Información Turística (16 de Julio, nr Plaza Sucre; 9am-1pm, 2-6pm
Wed-Sun) There is a helpful English-speaking attendant, although only rudimentary in-
formation is available.
