Held on January 24.
Fiesta de la Virgen de Candelaria
A bash honoring the patron saint of Copacabana and all Bolivia, with much music, tradi-
tional Aymará dancing, drinking and feasting. Celebrations culminate with the corralling
of 100 bulls. From February 2 to 5.

Semana Santa
As part of the Holy Week celebrations, the town fills with pilgrims on Good Friday, with
processions.
Bolivian Independence Day
Copacabana stages its biggest event during the first week in August. It's characterized by
round-the-clock music, parades, brass bands, fireworks and amazing alcohol consumption.
This coincides with a traditional pilgrimage that brings thousands of Peruvians into the
town to visit the Virgin.
