Eating & Drinking
Innkas Café $
(Plaza de Armas 705; mains S12-20; 7am-11pm) An old building with cozy window
nooks warmed by modern gas heaters (and boy do you need 'em). Maybe it's the altitude,
but the lomo saltado tastes Gastón Acurio-good here. The sweet service is backed up by
even sweeter cakes and coffee.

PERUVIAN
Cusi Alina $$
(Plaza de Armas 201; buffet S25) One of a couple of restaurants in Chivay that offers an
all-you-can-eat lunchtime buffet. The food represents a good Peruvian smorgasbord with
plenty of vegetarian options. It's popular with tour buses, so get in before 1pm to enjoy
more elbow room.
Aromas Caffee
( www.aromascaffeecolca.com ; Plaza de Armas cnr Av Salaverry) The tiny cappuccino
machine in this diminutive 'three's-a-crowd' cafe takes the conscientious barista about 10
minutes to manipulate, but your Peruvian coffee, when it emerges, is worth the wait.

main plaza. Some of the higher-end hotels and a few shops around town exchange US dol-
lars, euros and traveler's checks at unfavorable rates. Internet access is available from a
few internet cafes near the plaza.
Getting There & Around
The bus terminal is a 15-minute walk from the plaza. There are nine daily departures to
Arequipa (S15, three hours), while buses to Cabanaconde (S5, 2½ hours), stopping at
towns along the southern side of the canyon and at Cruz del Cóndor, leave four times
daily.
Combis and colectivo taxis run to the surrounding villages from street corners in the
market area, just north of the main plaza, or you can arrange a private taxi. Mountain
bikes in varying condition can be readily hired from travel agencies on the plaza or at Bi-
