Hotel Nazca $
( 52-2085; marionasca13@hotmail.com; Lima 438; s/d/tr S35/45/65)
A rock-bottom,
bargain basement place with friendly, elderly owners. Army barracks-style rooms offer
bare bones facilities; some have private baths.

Eating & Drinking
West of the Plaza de Armas, Bolognesi is stuffed full of foreigner-friendly pizzerias, res-
taurants and bars.

;
Bolognesi 282; mains S20-40)
The best restaurant in the
'Boulevard' (Bolognesi), La Encantada sparkles in Nazca's dusty center with well-placed
wine displays, great coffee and courteous and friendly wait-staff. The extensive menu
mixes Europhile food (pasta et al) with Peruvian favorites.

Rico Pollo $
(Lima 190; mains from S12)
A local lunchtime phenomenon, this very cheap, very
crowded parrilla offers some of the best barbecued meat cuts on the south coast. For S12
you get a filling meal of chicken breast with fries and vegetables. Cakes and salads (S10)
provide an excellent supporting act.

El Porton $

;
Ignacio Moreseky 120; mains S20-30)
Fed with a regular
diet of Nazca Lines tour groups, single diners could get lonely in this rambling place. The
menu is anchored by above-average potatoes in a Huancayo sauce, stuffed avocados and
some fancier mains. Musical trios drop by with
El Condor Pasa
on default setting.
