southern suburbs lies the 'beauty' of El Molino, a lovingly tended hotel complex set on
the banks of the Cañete river on the cusp of Luanahuná. The hotel opened in 2011 with
boutique-style rooms encased in glassy river-facing units. There are two pools, table foot-
ball, and a fine restaurant in the beautifully landscaped grounds where tranquility reigns
bar the odd triumphant whoop of a passing rafter.

of Lunahuaná is the ultimate relaxing getaway. Rooms are rustic but elegant and the
grounds feature a fragrant botanical garden and a restaurant that serves textbook local spe-
cialties (mains S32 to S48). The prices include breakfast, lunch and dinner, and guided
walks through the local orchards.

) About 1km along the highway east of Lunahuaná, this friendly guesthouse looks
down to the river from a shady terrace overrun with plants. Rooms, though plain, are
modern and have hot showers.

ders the river at the far west of town. Base camp for Río Cañete Expediciones, it has good
facilities and a free artificial rock-climbing wall for guests.

block with some 2nd-floor rooms offering peek-a-boo river views. There's hot water and
cable TV, but no wi-fi.

main plus starter. Try the chicken stew and prawn chowder.
