It's not hard to channel your inner Indiana Jones along Peru's North Coast, where practic-
ally under every grain of sand this sweeping dune desertscape reveals yet another largely
intact antediluvian ruin.

Peru's iconic dish, ceviche (raw fish marinated in citrus juices and chili pepper, served
with onions, corn and sweet potato), was a major player in the country's gastronomic
renaissance and there's no better stretch of sand for a seafood crusade than Peru's North
Coast.

It would be odd to come all the way to Peru for a beach vacation, but once you're here,
you might be pleasantly surprised as you dip your toes into the ample sands of Huan-
chaco, Colán, Máncora or Punta Sal.
