The Building Diagnostics approach places primary emphasis on evalu-
ation of the performance of the building and its systems and the quantitative
assessment of airborne contaminants and a variety of environmental param-
eters. It eschews information gathering from occupants and uses air testing
only in the final stages of an investigation.
Investigative protocols have also been developed by European investi-
gators. These include the essentially similar Danish Building Research Insti-
tute (DBRI) and Nordtest (Nordic Ventilation Group) protocols. They contain
