base sequence. High reactivity and the possibility of conveying sequence
specificity suggest that this is a field that has not yet been exhausted,
especially in light of the large number of copper complexes which have been
studied for their reactivity with dioxygen. This knowledge combined with
what is already understood about the oxidative cleavage and modification of
nucleic acids could contribute to a new class of therapeutic agents.
