Midrange
Although very comfortable compared with Ethiopian budget options, most midrange ho-
tels here would be scraping by as bare-bones budget options in the Western world. Any
that are more than three or four years old typically look tired and run-down, and very
rarely offer good value for money.
Midrange hotels typically include the following:
»Private bathroom with hot water
»Satellite TV
»Wi-fi (often doesn't work)
»Restaurant (adequate rather than fine dining)
»Secure parking and sometimes a garden
Top End
There are plenty of top-end options in Addis Ababa, and an ever increasing number in
popular tourist towns in both the north and south. In the east and certainly in the west
there is very little that really qualifies as true top end.
True top-end hotels typically include everything found in the midrange hotels as well as
the following:
»Gym and/or swimming pool
»Garden
»Internet and in-room wi-fi (normally works)
»Good-quality restaurant
»Travel services
