vices and an ATM that accepts Visa. There's another Dashen ATM outside the Honey
Land Hotel.
Getting There & Away
Ethiopian Airlines ( 0471-110030; www.flyethiopian.com ) flies Wednesday, Friday
and Sunday to Addis Ababa (Birr2622, one hour to 2½ hours depending on route).
Selam Buses ( 0115-544831; www.selambus.com ) has a daily bus to Addis Ababa
(Birr165, six to seven hours) at 6am.
There are numerous buses throughout the day for Addis Ababa (Birr92 to Birr102, sev-
en hours). The gates to the bus compound usually open around 6am. Get your elbows
ready and be prepared for a mad scramble.
Amid the early morning free-for-all you'll find buses for Tepi (Birr 98, eight hours),
Mizan Tefari (Birr75, 7½ hours), Metu (Birr82, eight hours), Bedele (Birr50, 4½ hours)
and Nekemte (Birr98, nine hours). There are up to six minibuses to Welkite (Birr70, 5½
hours).
