In-Depth Information
Forty Springs
Arba Minch, which is Amharic for 'Forty Springs', is named after the innumerable little
springs ( 8am-6pm) that bubble up right at the base of the ridge below the town. All
the development (the city pumps its water from here) and the fact that it's not especially
scenic to begin with makes it worth visiting only if you've already paid park fees. The
3km road there from the headquarters, however, is beautiful and makes a good, easy walk.

CAMPGROUND
Campsites $
(per tent US$4, tent hire 1-3 person US$10, 4+ person US$12) The park has three official
campsites: one on the road to Forty Springs, another nearby along the Kulfo River and
one at the back of the park in the Sermule Valley. There are no facilities and the latter
lacks a water source in the dry season. Consider them mere recommendations since camp-
ing is actually allowed anywhere.
Getting There & Away
The park headquarters is 800m beyond Sikela. See Click here f or information about boat
travel.
Dorze
High up in the Guge Mountains, northwest of Arba Minch, is cold and cloudy Dorze ter-
ritory. Dorze people are famous for their towering homes and fine cotton weaving.
