In-Depth Information
Bisrat Pension $
( 0912-944942; Dodola; d with/without bathroom Birr120/90; ) Near the guide of-
fice, it lacks the garden of its competitor, but the rooms at this family-owned place are
about as spotless as a budget hotel can be. A restaurant is planned.

Bale Mountain Motel $
( 0226-660016; Dodola; campsites Birr40, s/d/tw Birr100/150/200; ) Also near the
guide office but set in a quiet garden with many birds, this long-running place has been
spruced up a bit, but the simple rooms remain dreary. The shared toilets are nothing to
sing about, but thankfully they're nothing to scream about either. Meals cost Birr18 to
Birr40.

Asseffa Hailu Hotel $
( 0226-630002; Adaba; old bldg s/d without bathroom Birr100/150, s/d Birr150/200,
new bldg s/d 200/250; ) Adaba's original (now second) high-rise is friendly and well-
maintained with good mattresses and a 4th-floor restaurant (mains Birr35 to Birr80; we
figure the 'Gordon Brown' is really cordon bleu), though the owner has heartily embraced
the faranji tax so it's poor value. The blue rooms in the old building across the street
provide even less bang for your birr.

Getting There & Away
Public transport is frequent along the main road and you won't have to wait long for
Adaba (Birr8, 20 minutes), Dinsho (Birr20, one hour) or Robe (Birr35, two hours).
To/from Addis Ababa (Birr104, five hours) you can ride the Robe or Goba buses, since
no buses to Addis start here. They'll be full when they arrive so either go to Shashemene
(Birr24, one hour) and catch a connection there or ask your guide to call Robe and have
the conductor hold a seat for you.
Nazret must be done in stages. There are Dodola-Asela (Birr42, two hours) buses in the
morning, and sometimes a minibus after lunch. Transport runs all day on the
Asela-Nazret (Birr24, one hour) leg.
