ETHIOPIAN-EUROPEAN
Time Café $
(mains Birr20-65) A stylish cafe popular with young Awasians. Coy couples come here to
giggle under the patio umbrellas and share ice-cream sundaes and plates of fries. It also
has good burgers and pizzas.
Pinna Hotel $
Offline map
(mains Birr40-110; ) If the cakes in the ground-floor pastry shop don't sidetrack you,
head upstairs to a very faranji (foreigner)-friendly menu. Specialities include ravioli with
spinach, stir-fried chicken and fish with pineapple. The lightning fast wi-fi should divert
your attention from the glacial service.
ETHIOPIAN-EUROPEAN
Dolce Vita $
Offline map
(mains Birr46-92) Many people, apparently decompressing after a long time travelling in
the south, rave about this Italian kitchen. We enjoyed the food here (and the shady ter-
race), which is clearly above average for Ethiopia, but don't quite share the unbridled en-
thusiasm.
ITALIAN
Lewi Resort $
(mains Birr55-114) Not to dismiss the food (everything from pizza to pepper pot soup),
but it's the shady stone terrace along the lake that really pleases the throngs. With a
lengthy drinks list it's also a perfect sundowner spot.
ETHIOPIAN-EUROPEAN
Luwa Bar & Restaurant $
Offline map
(mains Birr20-50) Sit under the woven bamboo parasols and enjoy top-notch national
food.
